Golden sun, savory pies and iconic stadiums - what more could an England cricket fan desire?

Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they remain in contention to reclaim the urn once the opening games are done.

Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table during this tour, after the hosts' dominant victory by 82 runs in Adelaide left the home side with a 3-0 lead for the fourth straight contest on their own soil.

The loyal traveling fans, the organized fan base, have thousands of supporters making the journey for the concluding fixtures in Sydney and Melbourne.

Furthermore, other organized trips who will be vacationing overseas, as well as families and friends heading for a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Fans with Booked Tickets

A group of four supporters are a prime example.

The four siblings had their itineraries and entry credentials secured for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "well ahead of time", hoping to witness a historic English victory.

Sadly, they've observed Australia outplay the visitors in just a short period from their house in the north of England.

"People in the office has been giving me grief regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"We always thought that we would have something to play for upon our arrival."

Diminishing Hope

Optimism was high about England's chances of securing a first win in 15 years for a series win in Australia prior to the first ball.

Yet now they are looking at the possibility of extending their winless run in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the Boxing Day Test begins in the MCG on Christmas Day.

The England team - and their supporters - will be keen to prevent a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

Alex said the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in recent times had "brought fresh energy to" Test cricket for followers of the team.

But the Ryding siblings said they had minimal hopes for the remaining matches - and all they are asking for from the players is "some resilience".

"All analysts references this, but it all comes down to fortitude. 'Bazball' has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, nonsense cricket," commented another sibling.

"Over the course of five days, you should dig in. Chasing balls 'sixth stump' areas has not been part of the fundamentals, and that is mainly the fault the top order."

Future Prospects

Asked whether he believed England will secure a victory in this Ashes series, Sam said: "It looks like the Australians are superior right now."

"Necessarily, there must be several individuals that makes a significant contribution and makes a big impact."

Even with the series lost, the siblings are still looking forward to the trip.

"We will have a great time nonetheless," said Katie. "We have to go with that attitude."

"Naturally, it's disappointing we can't contest the series, but we have made a substantial financial commitment by now."

"We'll enjoy celebrating the holidays out there. Additionally, it's our first experience traveling over Christmas."

A teacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the lengthy journey as part of her seasonal break.

"As a backup plan, I can play golf to fall back on," Katie concluded.
